Rome for New Year

Visiting the Eternal city over the New Year’s period will make your City Break in Rome even more of a memorable experience. The city has plenty of options to pick from, whether you are looking to discover the most beautiful town locations surrounded by the magical atmosphere of New Year or want to head where the party’s at!

Outdoor New Year’s Eve in Rome Here are the main open air “hot spots” where Romans will gather for New Year’s Eve: Piazza del Popolo is one of the main squares in the centre of Rome located at the end of Via del Corso and right below the Pincio terrace overlooking from Villa Borghese Park. Its large rounded shape with the centre obelisk make this a perfect location from where to watch the fireworks at midnight. Fori Imperiali is the main avenue leading to the Coliseum and is another stunning scenic location from where you can admire the beauty of the ancient ruins while waiting for the New Year at the sound of music with the free concert lining-up famous Italian pop artists. Piazza del Quirinale will be the preferred choice for a rather traditional New Year’s Eve with fireworks and the classical concert hosted by the council on one of the Seven Hills of Rome, right in front of the Presidential palace.

Where to go after midnight on New Year’s Eve After midnight, you will be spoilt for choice of nightclubs and venues where to party until the early hours of dawn. Many clubs in the town centre host special events and will be easy to reach on foot if you are already out and about. Other popular nightlife areas are Testaccio and Garbatella. If you are planning to move around town, however, do make sure you organise your transportation right as viability will often be jammed in the first hours after midnight. The staff of Hotel Mellini will assist you in all aspects to make sure you have a great start of the New Year!
